A Massive Tribute to The Gathering 2013 in Ireland
Music fans in Mullingar, County Westmeath, have an opportunity to enjoy a new style music festival created in UK over the weekend of July 12th -14th. Tribfest is a festival that provides songs from the biggest names in the music world, but the performers on stage are tribute acts. They may not be the real stars but are the nearest thing that you could see in County Westmeath.
If you imagine a fantasy concert line-up of everyone you would like to see, add this to a three day festival, you are entering the world of Tribfest. The concept has grown over the past six years and is now the world’s biggest and best tribute band festival. Tribfest will be coming to Ireland for the first time in July 2013.
Since 2007 over one hundred top tribute acts have played to thousands of festival goers at the English music festival held in Yorkshire. Over the past six years they have seen tributes to everyone from U2 to ABBA, Guns ‘n’ Roses to the Scissor Sisters, Madonna to the Sex Pistols, The Prodigy to The Beatles and even Michael Jackson!
Not only has this attracted a loyal but growing audience and nominations for the UK Festival awards, Tribfest has now become a magnet for the national media. The Sun newspaper gave the festival a centre page review in 2011 and the New Musical Express (NME) wrote a three page review of this year’s festival.
The Tribfest music festival is being held at Belvedere House, a Georgian Villa in Mullingar, County Westmeath. The three day festival will be held from Friday 12th July to Sunday 14th July and the location for Ireland’s first Tribute Festival is only an hour from Dublin.
Over the weekend sixteen top tribute acts will be playing at the festival as well as folk and acoustic acts from Ireland and also local unsigned bands. The line-up has still to be finalised but already signed up are tributes to Bruce Springsteen and Garth Brooks plus local star Joe Dolan.
As well as the bands there will be a Silent Disco, which is a marquee where you are dancing to music through wireless headphones. The festival will also feature a dance marquee with DJ’s showcasing their sets throughout the weekend. Tribfest aims to cater for fans of all ages and all musical tastes.
Music fans will be able to camp on the grounds of Belvedere House for the weekend. Weekend tickets can be purchased online at www.tribfest.ie Tribfest will be running a discounted ticket offer until the end of March 2013. An adult weekend ticket will cost €60, a saving of €35, youth weekend €50, a €25 saving and a child weekend ticket is €30, a €20 saving. All under 5s tickets are free. This offers great value for money as Tribfest aims to offer the full festival experience for a fraction of the cost of bigger festivals. The festival is filling a gap in the market for families who want to attend a music festival but cannot afford the prices of a mainstream festival.
The festival organiser Ed Faulkner is excited to be involved with The Gathering 2013 and bringing Tribfest to Ireland “I created the idea of the Tribfest music festival where everyone would be able to afford the festival experience and see some of the best tribute bands from across Europe. We have acquired a very professional team, learned how to create and deliver an excellent festival and we showcase the very best bands from across Europe. We are looking forward to bring Tribfest to Belvedere House and bring a fun packed weekend to all music fans in Ireland”
